CUT
Q&A with Director Kimble Rendall
Synopsis:
Years after the original director was killed during the filming of a low-budget thriller, a crew of film students set out to finish where she left off. When the filming begins, so too do the killings.
Notes:
Great to see the queens of nice - Kylie Minogue and Molly Ringwald as thoroughly unlikeable rats in this wonderful fun filled slasher. In director Kimble Rendall’s hands, a light touch and high energy combine to make a memorable night out for this little gem, where a standard gorefest is given a high minded treatment without ever forgetting its roots. And anyway who could blame a mad killer wanting to reduce the number of film students. Watch out for the memorable performance from Tiriel Mora who went into Oz screen immortality with, “It’s the vibe your honour” in The Castle. Trivia: What band did writer Dave Warner front?
Reviews:
"Cut is an obvious throwback to the golden age of slashers, but there’s also something quite novel and underrated about its approach." - Bloody Disgusting
"Wittily scripted by Dave Warner and intelligently directed by first-timer Kimble Rendall, CUT knows exactly what it`s doing. It contains enough tension and humour, particular within the moments of violence, to provide entertainment for audiences of all ages." Margaret Pomeranz
